The UvA Green Office is looking for a new Campus lead. There are three key responsibilities for the Campus team:
The Campus Team is responsible for advising the relevant UvA bodies on sustainability policy.
The Campus Team’s goal is implementation of sustainable technologies, systems and projects.
The Campus Team aims to connect all UvA’s participation bodies (FSRs, CSR, student associations. Employee associations, COR) in a broader discussion about sustainable policy-making at the UvA.

Requirements

  • You have great communication skills– you can easily connect with team members, other students and also staff from all across the UvA.

  • You have great organizational and time management skills– You will plan and execute the year budget and strategy including managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • You are a natural leader– you will be in charge of a group of individuals and must be able to organize and support the Campus team throughout the year.

Preferred skills/experience:

  • You are familiar with the student participation bodies; such as CSR and FSR, and their legal power. You are familiar with the employee organizations, such as COR.

  • You are familiar with the relevant stakeholders within the UvA’s sustainable policy-making.

  • You have experience with writing policy briefs, and you are familiar with some of the European Union’s latest regulations and sustainable policy.

Knowledge and Interests 

  • You do not need to have an academic background in sustainability. However, you must have a demonstrable and well-rounded personal interest. The Campus team acknowledges that all academic disciplines have a role to play in the sustainability transition and supports interdisciplinary collaboration within the UvA Green Office.

  • You have passion for sustainability and some orientation towards a branch of sustainability grounded in academic theory (e.g. intersectional sustainability, de-growth, circular economy).


Tasks 

  • Administrative tasks: email management, submitting expense requests, calendaring, etc.

  • Project-based tasks: overseeing several projects at the same, setting deadlines and making sure they are followed by the team members.

  • Collaborating with third parties, and lobby for them in conversations with the relevant stakeholders.

  • Writing policy briefs for the relevant stakeholders at the UvA.

  • Uniting the student participation bodies in a broader conversation on sustainability policy making.

  • Leadership: Keeping the Campus team motivated, engaged and following a clear sustainability vision.

  • Meetings: Meeting once a week with the whole of the Core Team, your team, and occasionally with staff from the University.

About us

The UvA Green Office is a student-run platform striving to make the University of Amsterdam a greener place. Our office consists of four different teams. Each team, which consists of one team leader and 5-10 voluntary members, has its own focus and addresses a different aspect of sustainability within the University of Amsterdam. One general manager oversees the four teams and constitutes the link to the central UvA staff and partners. At the moment, the Green Office consists of 50 members.
