Upcoming Critical Sustainabilties Lecture: Where is reproductive labour in the just energy transition?

It's official! Our second critical sustainability lecture for this year will focus on the invisible care work behind the energy transition, presented by Dr Diana Vela Almeida. Find out how feminism and sustainability relate to each other!
This presentation focuses on the labor relations in the mining and manufacturing industries that are needed for the energy transition. It draws attention to the often-overlooked reproductive labor that fundamentally underpins energy systems, filling a substantial theoretical and empirical gap by analyzing the hidden costs, especially for low-income, unskilled, immigrant workers, who provide reproductive work crucial to sustaining the shift towards the energy transition, yet suffer from social and economic marginalization.
