STEFANA FECIUC (she/her)

Co-Manager

Hi, I’m Stefana, and this year I’ll be a Co-manager at the GO. I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in European Union Law, where I’ve developed an interest in how laws and institutions protect the interests that drive climate destruction - and how they can be redirected to serve climate and social justice. Speaking of institutions - I spent the last two years in the Central Student Council, which sparked my interest in UvA sustainability policy - Are we doing enough? Are we keeping our promises? This year, I want to start that conversation, keep the GO running smoothly, and expand our reach to underrepresented faculties (like law). There, I’m also committed to pushing for more critical discussions that move beyond surface solutions and tackle the political, social, and structural roots of the environmental crisis.

MAUD TIMMER (she/they)

Co-Manager

Hi, I'm Maud, the GO Co-Manager. I am a student in political science, with a focus on agriculture and ecology. My time at UvA has been spent cultivating spaces of student empowerment, project managing for the AJSS, and engaging in student council politics working towards a decarbonized, decolonized, and democratized university. Eight years of engagement in global solidarity movements have taught me that the struggle for environmental justice is inseparable from the struggle of indigenous peoples, rural peasants, and the global working classes.  This year, I aim to ground the GO in the lived realities of those on the front lines, act as a reflective and critical body within the university ecosystem, extend our roots into new faculties, and weave enduring networks of student engagement.  Our task is not simply to sustain what exists, but to uproot our problems at a systemic level and plant the seeds of a just and regenerative future.

SHANE FARRAGHER (he/they)

Research & Education Team Lead

I’m Shane, the head of Research and Education this year at the GO. As a research masters student in Cultural Analysis, I am always eager to bring a critical point of view to my work through the exploration of alternative and justice-orientated approaches to research and education. The climate crisis requires precisely this: a move beyond the common repetition of conventional policy directions and unimaginative education, toward approaches that challenge dominant narratives, cultivate creativity, and empower collective action. For this academic year, I hope to foster spaces where curiosity can meet criticality, enabling the student body to imagine futures rooted in equity and ecological care.

CRISTIAN TOMUȘ (he/him)

Campus & Operations Team Lead

I am Cristian, the Campus and Operations Coordinator this academic year. As a Master Urban and Regional Planning student with a background at the GO UvA and Enactus UvA, I've developed a vested interest in sustainability project management. I believe that action against the climate crisis should involve projects that are well set up and can continue to evolve in the long term. Acting at a local level (our campus), I'd like to continue finding and implementing innovative solutions for a more sustainable UvA while engaging with and bringing together students, teachers, and Facility Services to pursue common sustainability goals. If feasible, I would like to take successful projects to the next level, creating impact on multiple campuses or at a municipality level.

EREN KONYAR (they/them)

Events & Community Team Lead

I’m Eren, and this year will be my second term as the Events & Community Team Lead at the GO! As a student in Conflict Resolution and Governance with previous experience in UNICEF and Amsterdam United, I am excited this year to combine such interests and experiences in developing events and community platforms focusing on critical sustainability. My goal this year is to improve meaningful engagement among the student body around critical and alternative approaches to sustainability. I believe that through this, we can collectively challenge the ongoing neoliberalization and technocratization of the subject matter and create platforms for interdisciplinary and horizontal learning where we explore the systemically rooted social, political, and economic causes and consequences of the environmental crisis.  If I am not at class you can find me at the office so feel free to drop by for a little chat 💛

CIARAN WARK (he/they)

Communications Team Lead

Hello! I’m Ciaran, Communications Team Lead this year at the GO. I’m at the beginning of my Master’s in New Media and Digital Culture, where I’ll be exploring the world, including the ecological, through the lens of new media. In recent years, I’ve worked in roles focused on pushing the commercialisation of sustainable technologies. I spent time writing and researching for a sustainable aviation fuel business consultancy, as well as doing marketing and communications for some UK-based solar and renewable energy brands. One of our main goals this year is to bring the GO’s work to a wider student audience. We aim to do this by creating spaces for critical engagement, where creative ideas can flourish and mutually supportive networks can take root.
