Become a member at the Green Office in 2023-24!

A warm welcome from the managers of the Green Office. We are thrilled to get the year started with our community of volunteers!

Are you still doubting whether the Green Office is for you? Let us tell you a bit more about us. We aim to make sustainability accessible to all students by building a community which strives to make the UvA a greener place, connect with fellow members from different faculties, understand how sustainability can work at an institutional level, and see the steps that UvA is taking. Depending on whether your area of interest is research, campus projects, community building, or communication, we have a space for you in which you get to work together with fellow students to reach a greater goal!

We look forward to seeing what we can achieve all together this year! We hope to see your application and have you on one of our four teams! See the detailed descriptions of our teams below. Please note that these vacancies work on a voluntary basis and are therefore not accompanied by a salary.

  • Interviews will take place either in-person or over Zoom during October 2022

Please note: While we take into consideration the role that applicants select, throughout the recruitment process we may consider applicants for a different role than their initial choice based on the applicant mix. 

Communications Team

The communications team are all about spreading the word of the work of the Green Office and making sure people know our name!

The Green Office does this through social media (Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube and Facebook), the blog, the website, the internal and external newsletter. The communications team is currently led by Zoé Héjja.

Community Team

The community team works on establishing and maintaining a strong community of like-minded students, whether it be within the Green Office, between the Green Office and other students and student initiatives, or between current and former members of the UvA Green Office. We aim to collectively build a more sustainable future for UvA and spread the word about the Green Office. Our committee is always open to enthusiastic individuals who would like to contribute and make a difference.  The community team is currently led by Yashi Tripathi. 

Research and Education Team

The R&E team works on interdisciplinary collaboration, providing accessible educational material, and develops sustainability-related research projects. The R&E team is currently led by Sofia Helin.

Campus Team

The Campus team works on different projects to make UvA campuses more sustainable in a variety of ways. This includes improving the sustainability of the buildings and facilities of the university by addressing topics such as waste separation and reduction, catering and energy use. In cooperation with Facility Services and other UvA parties, the campus team go behind-the-scenes to submit policy recommendations, think of creative sustainable solutions, and identify problem areas at the university. Are you enthusiastic about sustainability? Would like to continue your studies on a greener UvA campus? Are motivated, proactive and dedicated to making an impact? Then the Campus team is just the right place for you to make your dreams come true! The team is currently lead by Meriç Özsüer.
